I’m just giddy to announce the debut of TRIPLE LOVE SCORE! This book is charming, fun, and creative. Who knew poetry could be so playful? I loved every moment I lived with these characters. Learn more about the story and Brandi below!
In Triple Love Score, Miranda Shane lives a quiet life among books and letters as a professor in a small college town. When the playing-by-the-rules poet throws out convention and begins to use a Scrabble board instead of paper to write, she sets off a chain of events that rattles her carefully planned world. Her awakening propels her to take risks and seize chances she previously let slip by, including a game-changing offer from the man she let slip away. But when the revelation of an affair with a graduate student threatens the new life Miranda created, she is forced to decide between love or poetry.
Talk about one thing that’s making you happy right now.
The happiest thing I enjoyed this week involved my husband and my iPod. We had a couple hour ride to visit family, and my podcast app didn’t work, so the music started cycling through on random. When Jack Johnson’s Rodeo Clowns started playing, we rocked out like teenagers. I love this man. And my iPod. And Jack Johnson.

Tell us a secret about the main character in your novel — something that’s not even in your book.
This is a big secret. Miranda chooses wrong. I don’t want to say which choice is the wrong one, but I’ve thought about what happens to her after the book ends, and she probably winds up going in a far different direction that even I expected. I just may have to write another book to expose this!

What’s the strangest job you’ve ever had?
I’ve had some pretty awesome jobs including pre-school teacher when I first started out, to university writing professor and private writing mentor today. However, during graduate school, I veered from teaching and worked as a construction journalist. My job consisted on reporting construction jobs such as scope, nature of work, deadlines for bids, etc. for all of New York State. At one point, I had detailed plans for Sing Sing Prison in my cubicle for a heating and air conditioning project they had out for bid. Maybe I should try writing a thriller next?
Do you have a regular first reader? If so, who is it and why that person?
That cute guy I sang along to Jack Johnson with! My husband reads everything I write from blog posts to novels. The more I learn about writing, the more he learns about editing. He catches plot holes I miss and really gets involved with the story. He’s like a passive voice eliminating ninja! It’s wonderful to be a part of such a great team for what is normally a solitary activity.
