She was affectionately dubbed Vintage Marin because of her fascination with retro black-and-white images and her desire to keep life as simple as possible. Here’s what Marin had to say about her connection with old things and her writing:

“A favorite hobby of mine is browsing junk shops—every object has a story. In my first women’s fiction novel, THE PROMISE OF FORGIVENESS, my heroine wears a ruby necklace that plays an important role in the story. Years before I wrote this book, I came across a ruby necklace and wondered how such a beautiful piece of jewelry had ended up in a junk shop. What had happened to the woman who once wore it? Was it auctioned off at an estate sale? I knew when I saw the necklace that it would end up in one of my books.”
